| Personally I just dont like how the flat bar etc feels. I have an odd habit of holding a bit in my hand and if it feels 'nice' then its good enough for my horse's mouth. The one I put a pic of feels good- no sharp lumpy bits etc, no big holes for pinching tongues. |

| the french link is actually nice for a horse and it sits flat on theitr tongue but because of the two joints doesn't pull down and put uneven pressure on it. The Rotated center piece of the dr Bristol puts a thiner pressure on teh tonuge so it better for stronger horses, but stilldoesn't have the but cracker action of a plain snaffle which can hit them in theroof of the mouth,. I use either a KK ultra, kk or French link on my guys. The horses with a shallow pallet or smaller mouth much prefer the french link to the kk as it has less metal in their mouth. It all depends on the horse and their mouth. Each horse is different so i try each bit individually on each horse to see what they prefer.. Then when you find something that suits they start jumping or going cross country and get stronger so the challange starts all over again!!! |

| Okay, first off - i'm not saying anyone that uses them is a bad person!!! They aren't bad, if your horse goes well in it theres no point changing - i just don't like them, never had a horse thats liked one, when i look at a bit, i imagine im going to half halt with it or whatever, when i did the action with this bit it looks like when pressure is put on the reins the plate digs into their tongue. I had one on my clydie x and sure enough, every time i put pressure on the reins she threw her head in the air and evaded - our Morgan filly reacted the same way - neither have done this with their usual bits. _________________ Burnbank Sport Horses
