 | Subject: Expressions of interest- Dressage arena markers etc. Sun Feb 22, 2009 5:42 pm | |
| I recently made my auntie a set of dressage markers (approximately 25x20cm, signwhite (colourbond), rounded edges, with black letters- just the plate, no legs etc, were to be drilled straight into wooden posts), and she quite happily handed over $50 for them (which was basically the cost of the materials). I have access to the materials and tools required to make markers like this, as well as things like showjump numbers, even mounting blocks etc. Would anyone be interested in purchasing such items? Dressage arena markers (set of 8 ) would literally only take me an hour to make. A set of markers with legs (ie to put into the ground) would obviously take longer, because they'd need to be powdercoated etc. Best thing is, I could do it in custom colours- want purple letters? Have purple letters! lol. So yeah, I want to establish if there would be much of a market for these items? Thurs 26th Feb- PHOTOS ADDED. Text has been copied/pasted from today's reply! Just one of them- All eight- I think these ones were around 25x20cm. Not 100% sure but close enough! Obviously I can do smaller and larger. Again- happy to do any colour for the letters (bearing in mind darker colours will be a lot easier to see at a distance than say, bright yellow or something!) You'll notice the ones I've shown above don't have holes in them yet (for screwing/nailing in) because we will be using tec screws to attach them, so it goes straight through the metal and into the post in one hit. Can just as easily prepare them with holes ready made though (at an extra cost). Also happy to do them with 'legs' for sticking in the ground, will be powdercoated (again, can do the legs in any colour!) So if you are interested please let me know! A basic set like the ones pictured can be ready within a day (depends how busy the signwriter is). I know I mentioned I charged my auntie $50 but that literally just covers material costs! (Gotta take care of family lol) Would be happy to sell a set like this for $70. Not sure how much a set with legs etc would cost, I've seen them for $170+ on the internet but don't imagine they would be that much for me to make!

| I think it would be nice to put up some photos so people can see what they look like. I'd certainly be interested in the dressage arena letters but would like to see them first. Cheers - Carol |

| Hmmm, I could do different background colours but it would work out more expensive and time consuming (would have to get the plates powdercoated). Can definitely do the letters any colour though! Not sure what I could do to be honest, never put much thought into it. Could do all sorts of name plates etc, but they'd be basic- ie your signwhite panel with signwriting on it (can choose any font/colour etc though). Could probably do clapboards for under jumps too. |
