PostSubject: Purchasing of Tack & riding apparel from overseas   Sun May 22, 2011 1:10 pm

I have been checking out alot of websites for saddlerys in the USA, I have found that their prices are quite cheap, however the postage is a killer. For example I found some long boots on doversaddlery.com for $135.00, I asked them for a quote to send them to Australia and they quoted me $220.00 just for the postage!!!! That was through fed ex. I have brought things from Sheplers.com plenty of times and the most postage I have paid is $65.00 and that was for 6 pairs of jeans, a pair of boots and 2 t-shirts. Just wandering if anyone else regulary shops online overseas and any hints of how to get cheaper shipping rates?

I got some pro choice boots for my boy on ebay. Paid $20 for postage. Guess the weight has a lot to do with it though

Wow $220 postage is crazy! I get a bit of stuff off Calevo in Germany and though postage is pricey, it's not that crazy. I paid (from memory) around $35 for shipping on a fleece rug and fluffy bell boots from them.

Yes $35 is more like it! I think I might have to question them about their quote Smile

Cool thanks Apashanarta! I email Dover saddlery back regarding their shipping costs and they advised they no longer use USPS as too many customers were'nt receiving their orders outside of the US. Its a pity really Smile I have alsways USPS for orders from Sheplers.com and have never had any problems and have always revceived my order within a week.
