Fin is a bay, 14.3hh STB mare who has been with us for several years now, she was my first horse and taught me how to ride. She has always been fantastic under saddle and will give almost anything a try. Fin was used by RDA for the 2010 special Olympics and was loved by all who had contact with her. She has attended riding club, done some jumping, loves novelties but doesn’t get fizzy, has done a few preparatory dressage tests with success, done countless hack shows earning me many ribbons but she also loves a good plod through the forest.
Fin is a very quiet mare, can’t find much that bothers her, however she can be difficult to catch when in a paddock with other horses, but a bucket of food usually fixes this. On her own she will usually come running to you. Fin has kicked out before but doesn’t go out of her way to hurt you, but as she has kicked in the past I am leasing her with the condition that she may kick, horses are unpredictable and I don’t want anyone to get hurt.
Fin is a lovely mare who once caught will rarely put a foot wrong. I have had many people ride this mare from children under 2 to my grandparents, and she has never done anything wrong by them. She would probably suit a small adult wanting a no fuss horse to do a bit of everything with or she would be good for a younger rider looking for a bigger mount. She is a fantastic mare who will only go to the absolute best of homes as she means the world to me.
Fin was trained as a pacer in her younger years however I believe that she never made it to the races. Fin usually does not pace under saddle but when she is being lazy she can, usually when you first ask for a trot she may pace but if you kick her on she skips back into a trot. Fin can canter under saddle and on lunge but does take time and encouragement to canter under saddle especially when the rider is bigger.
