PostSubject: GIVE AWAY - 3 baby chickens   Fri Oct 22, 2010 5:31 pm

Friend of mine, Kat, works a vets and someone brought 5 chickens in for sexing and only wanted 2 females so told vet to do "whatever" with the other 3. Vet thinks the other 3 are females but do not think they are very experienced in sexing chickens. Kat did not want them put down so brought them home and I said there were lots of chicken lovers and owners on here who might want them.

We have no idea what breed and think they are approx 8 weeks old.

If anyone can identify breed from my photos or anyone would like to rehome them let me know. We can drop them off if you don't live far from Happy Valley. If they turn out to be roosters and you eat them just don't tell me.

Cheers guys. Anyone know what breed they are?

Neither Kat or I have anything to keep chooks in because we both think they are cute and would like our own eggs. Little dears are asleep in the laundry and I keep wanting to check on them to make sure they are comfy. I'm getting clucky. hahaha

Hi Muppet,
check at the base of the tail, the feathers (if they have enough) will help you determine the sex...
Males feathers have more of a pencil tip...
Girls are rounded off...
I use to breed poulty, but its hard to tell by pics what they are, they could just be crossbreds...

Cheers Soozi5, I had visions of the vet having to stick his finger up their bums or something just as vile.

Have found them a home, thanks to the offers I had, cheers all.
