Any size seat will do (lots of different riders), but must be super-duper wide for a big round pony with no withers. We're all sick of the saddle rolling off to one side! Not fussed on colour or make as long as its safe to ride in. GP preferred, will also look at dressage. Leather or synthetic ok. Thanks!

We had trouble fitting a saddle to a fat backed part arab pony a while back. The Chiro suggested either ride her bareback, or get a treeless saddle.... In the end, we found a Wintec that fitted her. It looked awful in the Show Ring, but it was the ONLY saddle that didn't slip around on her! Good luck.....!

Or get her to lose weight, which is what I should really do. It's not a bad problem to have, so much grass and nowhere to lock them up She's a 13.3hh connemara, built like a tank and carries me with no problems. And I'm not tiny! I had a borrowed wintec which was pretty good, very sad to have to give it back

| Rivanna have you looked into the Thorowgood saddles? They make a cob type saddle. Great for horses with no whither.

Rosie- *unfortunately* it was a GP saddle, which I absolutely HATE! The same size Wintec in the Dressage rolled around on her still,- but because the GP was forward cut, it sort of "anchored" it in place. Saddle fitting is such a nightmare!

When Bridie was broken in the only thing that would fit her was a Wintec Wide - which is not just a wintec with a wide gullet, they are made to suit those types! Otherwise i would look into the Thorowgood saddles (which are like better quality wintecs!) as like Mads said they have a "Cob" range which are made for those types and your only looking at around $1200 new!

My jumping saddle is a Thorowgood and it is great to ride in, initially we just bought it because it was cheap and it would "make do" till we could get another one but i have ridden in a range of new and more expensive saddles and preferred my Thorowgood! i haven't ridden in any of their dressage saddles though.
