Sorry to offend but i really don't understand producing more of a breed that needs horses re homed all the time I know they are very popular in the show ring but i see adverts for cheap or free standies constantly and just don't understand why you would encourage more being bred |
I am not flaming you for this comment, and i certainly am not standing up saying that i am a sb lover... i have my thoughts and opinions on the breed, as i will happily explain to people that want to know my opinions...
however, i am intrigued by the comment that there is an excess that need to be re-homed... i have a fantastic home available for definitely 1, possibly 2 sb's, have been looking for over a month, and can not find any suitable (ok so my expectations of said horse/s are rather specific) that are cheap or give away. If you know where i can go to look, please fill me in |

| My comments were not to bag standies as a whole But more to the point of why would you keep a horse or that breed entire when it was a re home to begin with and is being given away now
I disagree with breeding because u have a horse and it happens to be a mare as well
And there are many well proven standard bred stallion's out there my original question stands as to why you would give this horse away as a entire but hey it is just my opinion
I beleive in responsible breeding end of story

| I'll start with saying that I agree with kisses in that all breeding should be for a purpose. Smooth was given to me and kept entire by me because I had every intention of showing him with SPHASA. At the time there was only two other stallions being shown. Just because he was able to breed does not mean that was my intention for him. Unfortunately due to the break up between my fiance and I at the time home life was too complicated to be fritting off to shows everyweekend so I rehomed him to a stb show home who kept him entire for the same reason. I ensured the home he went to was a experienced and responcible one. When she decided to sell him on, he was gelded and is now no longer entire.

| hi guys, actually the reason why Standard breds have good temperament is because they have Morgan Bloodlines in their ancestry. A known fact three Morgan Stallions were brought to Australia in the 1800"s to improve the breed. Love my Morgans especially Mt Tawonga King check out Fernleighcreekmorgans.com. Cheers jan Burnbank Sport horses. |
