| firstly because by saying that they will send it to the doggers, usually pulls people in and the horse is more likely to make a quicker sale.
And second because selling it to the doggers is still going to get them their 3-400 bucks...
It is absolutely disgusting the things people do to sell horses, but if it means getting the animal a home asap whenowners cant afford to feed them or are in financial hardship and have to get money from somewhere, rather than the animal be neglected, then i guess I just accept it. I have been dealing with rehoming rescue horses for too long now to have things surprise me..... |

| Last I heard you were lucky to get $100 or $150 bucks from the doggers. |

| At the risk of being Howled down SOME horses go to the doggers for very good reasons and aren't suitable for rehoming BUT having said that there are many good horses whom shouldn't end up there--and some ppl use the scare tactic of horse is "off to the doggers" to get a sympathy sale !! Off my soap box now ! |

| These types of ads really cheese me off..... (not your fault Bubby1 - you were just reposting it).....
As Rosie said - sometimes horses are better off going through the doggers or Peterborough.... sometimes they are headed there for a reason.....
Other times horses get 'dogged' because people cant be bothered putting any time or effort into them, or its all just got too hard.....
People who post ads like this generally expect that someone will make a pity buy..... and try to play on peoples emotions..... they need a good kick in the pants as far as Im concerned most of the time!!

| totally agree with you both. I think there are alot worse things that can happen to animals and that the doggers have their place, I also agree through experience with rescue horses, that alot of these people want the pitty sale.... but hey if they cant look after it properly or it has to go asap.... at least the horse has a second chance, alot dont get even that.... |

| AQ friend of mine had to advertise her little horse a while back for a couple hundred dollars, her family had sold the farm they were on and she had no where at all to keep him, she advertised that he was give away or he would have to be dogged as she saw no way out- i under stand her feeling, everyone thought the horse had something wrong with it because it had to be gone asap and was free so no one took it, i had to take him on- i was already over stocked and sell him on for her, but sometimes people actually dont have a choice. And like others have said sometimes you cant help some horses. But alot of horses shouldnt end up there- i bought my first horse from the doggers he was absoloutley bombproof and i had him till he was 36. |

| I would have happily Dogged Brian rather than sending him to the wrong home.
Same with Guy ( Never going to happen though) He would kill someone if he ended up in the wrong hands. |

| He won't harm anyone if he's on a plate! He may even save a life...horse is so much leaner than beef he could help stop a heart attack! |

| Yep! hardly distinguishable from beef except for leaner, and therefore you need to watch it doesn't "dry out" when cooking.... I have NO problem with horses ending up on a plate....I wouldn't eat MOST horses I KNOW (although there are one or two I would enjoy the revenge) but I have no problem eating an "anon" horse! |
