| Oh i didn't realise they would be able to use such big ones... cos just the thought of hoiking someone up onto him makes me feel weak and feeble...
Do they pay for horses, or just take donations? I don't think he would be quiet enough for them though, and his trot is hard to ride |

| They have a big mounting platform.
They do pay not sure what their budget is.
They have a number of pacers so I eouldnt have thought that trot would be an issue. You should be able to get contact deets online |

| maybe i will give them a call... when they came to look at calvin, they couldn't get past the fact that they wanted dusty... i didn't have the heart to tell them that he probably would rather cut his own throat... or would take his boredom out on unsuspecting victims, or spend more time out of his paddock than in it...
maybe it would suit snuffy... he likes being center of attention, and going slow |

| Well: yes and no. I would have done the same. Dusty has the bone and bum that I would look for in an RDA horse. No offence Beautiful Calvin: you are destined for different things |

| I volunteeered for RDA for 7yrs - going back a while now but have also seen Ad's on Aushorse wanted horses section
They used to generally prefer the horses not to be over a certain height because they are to big. its really hard if the rider needs sidewalkers. I think 15hh/15.2hh??? is the cut off
of course its been a long time since I was there so things may have changed? so I could be totally wrong. lol |

| One of my horses went to RDA. First thing they look for is a very gentle and patient temperament. It the horse has that, then they might be interested. |

| A friend of ours gave a thoroughbred to the RDA, he was atleast 16hh. They did their "sensibility test" (i.e throwing balls at him, waving things around, flapping around on his back, making loud noises etc) and they were thrilled with how quiet he was so i think it just depends on the horses disposition |

| I ride at Blackwood and we have a 16hh Appy & a 17hh xbred. There is a need for bigger horses, especially weight carriers. You can only give it a go... |

| Thanks monster, but the blackwood people were the ones that annoyed me last time (only some of them, not all) so i don't think i will go there... hey you would know, do they pay for horses, or just take freebees?
I honestly don't think he is suitable for it anyway... i know his strengths and weaknesses.... and trust me calvin would have been the most suitable out of all of mine, and they didn't want him.. |

| Gizmo, to be honest I don't blame you. I told them to take Calvin but they annoy me with their horse choices.
They do both. You can sell, lease or give but they need a months trial.
No offence but for what I know I don't think Snuffy would be suitable either. There are so many different people handling them (a lot not overly horsey) and a big, strong horse isn't always good in that situation. My girl is quiet enough to tolerate me & my wheelchair but in an RDA environment she wouldn't be suitable with multiple handlers. Plus she is just too forward!
Mt Barker or Jennibrook might be interested in Calvin. |
