PostSubject: Thoroughbreds looking for new homes....   Thu Jan 14, 2010 8:21 pm

I know of 5 horses looking for new homes.
Long story short - the owner of these horses passed away not long before Christmas, the nephew has been looking after them for the past few weeks - but not being horsey he wants to find them new homes asap.

They are located not that far from our property - from what I can see driving past they all look ok, but I'll be going out tomorrow to have a chat with the guy & see how they all are.
As far as I know they are all ex-race horses, and have not been ridden/worked for around 10 years. I'd say they'd be best suited to a paddock companion or a very experienced rider.

Ages - 14, 16, 16, 18 & 20 - 2 mares, 2 geldings & a stallion.
From memory a couple of bays & chestnuts.
I can get photos & as much info as I can for anyone who may be interested.
I'm also happy to help out with transport from Owen.

Give me a call - 0424 608 591.

snap...was just about to post.

It seems those horses have found new homes - a girl @ work's friend picked them up this afternoon. Which is great - less for the poor guy to deal with on top of his loss.

Stacey - will let you know if there's still one available. Might see her tomorrow.

Sorry if upset anyone and not saying this will now happen to them but I see so many horses neglected out in the paddock cos people have lost interest or cant afford them i would much rather they were put down. I cant stand seeing horses neglected or not cared for or about.

I can see both sides of the story.
I hate to see horses (or any animals) put down for no good reason,- but I would rather that than see them die a long slow death due to starvation or neglect....
I'm glad they've found a home though! Very Happy

I think there could have been a more tactful way to suggest it

You didn't upset me O&B i agree with what you said after but it's just a shame that's all, they've done nothing to deserve this, but yes they are better off in the sky (as you put it) then in a paddock starving to death Smile
